Mary Fisher, Grandsons, Ervin Mullet

Mary Fisher with two of their grandsons. For all I know these might be their only grandchildren. I simply don't know. Obviouly facing the sun.

After taking Mary's picture I turned and there was Ervin Mullet from Indiana. standing there with luggage I figured he just came off the bus but no, he has been here since Monday.

I wish I wouldn't have cut off his crown but he walked too fast and the camera didn't snap in time because my finger was too slow. My finger gets the blame.

Random Shots in Pinecraft

Ale Hostetler's Dan is a hard working man and here is the evidence. They are caretakers of three homes down here and as of yet they are too young to live here during the winter months. So every now and then they make a trip down here.

Sarasota County men working at the Phillippi Creek, with an Amish on-looker. Sometimes I am the on-looker but not today. Well just at a distance I look-on.

Junior Mary talks the talk, and walks the dog. The dog has a strange Biblical name. Is it Nebuchadnezzar? But that name doesn't ring a bell. I guess a dog's name can elude me just like human names do from one winter to the next one.

I haven't seen this kind of straw hat with a green visor in ages. I remember years ago this kind of hat was sort of the in-thing in our neighborhood.

Yoder's Parking Lot

Tonight I biked through Yoder's Parking Lot and saw for the first time that the new Bicycle rack is up. It is situated between the restaurant and the fresh produce area.

Then I continued to bike and soon smelled the fresh tar and paint. When it comes to fresh paint I was like a child again. I had to bike over the paint just to see if it is still wet.

Bill's Bike Shop

Yesterday Bill & Marie Miller (I think) came down via the Pioneer Bus and already last evening the Bike shop was in operation. They have been doing business in renting out bikes for 12 years. The price is $4.00 a day for a 3-Wheeler or if you want to rent it for a week or so, they give a bit of a discount more like $25.00 a week. Each bike is equipped with a lock and key because if the bike is stolen you pay a penalty. A couple of years ago a family member lost the key to his rented bike, so he went back to Bill asking for the spare key. Bill throws the spare keys into a five-gallon bucket and so the family member was given the five-gallon bucket and he had no other option but to try each key until the right key fitted the lock. He said he had to try about a hundred keys until he found the right one. Ever after that the relative always knew where his bike key was. I just grinned and thought Bill is a pretty smart man.  

Christmas at Grace - Light Show

I saw this on the bulletin board at the post office. Click to enlarge. We always have Christmas down here without snow and ice. I guess it is not the snow and ice that makes Christmas, but we remember Christ who was born as a baby on this earth to save us from our sins.

Celebrating a 65th Wedding Anniversity

Today we celebrated Reuben & Mary Smucker's 65th wedding anniversity at the park. The children planned a surprise open house for theior parents.

Book Signing at Troyer's

Since there wasn't much going on at the park and the pavilion had a birthday party in the making I decided to bike up to the corner of Bahia Vista & Kaufman and see what is going on there. As I rounded the corner at the post office I met up with this man, trying to find a spot big enough to tack up an announcement.

I observed a while then I asked his some questions. This is Orpha Jake's Rob from Holmes County or in that surrounding area. I remember being at his Mother's home years ago in Walnut Creek. And he knew of my sister Edna who rides a Harley.

Today, tomorrow and Thursday he is signing his book at Troyer's  or Dutch Heritage. (Click on the print to enlarge.) This is his first book and it has been selling well.

Working at the Park

This morning I saw this van and trailer at the park and evidence of work being done but no workers. They were back in the woods.

Later this afternoon I biked to the park again and I am assuming they were getting ready to leave. I think they have two more days of work scheduled at the park this week. 

A Leisure Sunday

Today we had one of those beautiful leisure Sundays. I was out early afternoon and almost nobody was around but then Pinecraft came alive around 5 PM.

I don't know who these children but they were skipping stones on the slow, lazy creek.

And th spoonbills came back to the park. This means the mating season and raising their young is finished and done and they are also ready to vacation.
