Park Repairs

 

Tonight this sign was at the park entrance. Of course I had to take a look at the repairs. 

They did a fresh paint job on the surface, I wonder how they do this painting? 

Fixing Up

 Both of these are on Estrada Street. This is the former Adin Miller home. Today they were digging out and cutting up old cement slabs in order to get ready for new pavers.

 

This is the full length deck for the Stoltzfus Apartments. New homes and remodeling have been on the agenda all summer long in Pinecraft. Pinecraft is getting a facelift. 

Sunday's Bike Ride

 I did quite a bit of biking today. Here are some of the things that caught my eye.

 

 I marvel at how carefully they build around the shrubbery and trees. This is a remodeling job on the corner of Birky and Hines.

 

 Each balloon catches the sun's rays from a different perspective.

 It is time for another peanut.

 

 A Caretaker's garbage cans. They sit and wait until they are needed.

 

I don't know what these flowers are but they are beautiful.

Behind the chain link fence there are old church pews,

 A beautiful old chair,

 

And a tipsy bench.

Morning Bike Rides

 Yesterday and today I took a morning bike ride. With the rainy season still here I have to take bike rides when it is fit. The last while it rained in the late afternoon or evening, so the evening bike rides can get a bit iffy. Yesterday morning I watched this big flock of birds getting their meal. This morning only a few birds were here, digging deep for the last of the goodies.

 

A dozen of these birds were the Rosetta Spoonbills. Overhead about 2-3 dozen parrots came landing in on a tree, being as loud and noisy as their reputation.  

 

This morning at the end of my street met this squirrel with a brand new shiny pinecone. I sort of think she cut off the pinecone as there is no reason a healthy looking green pinecone should drop on its own. Anyway she wasn't about to give up her prized cone when I came biking up,  so she bit into it firmly and managed to get it across the street out of my reach.

 

  

Today

The Pioneer bus came in today.

 Homer and Fannie Lambright came back.

 

 Menno Bontrager and his wife returned home. The squirrels will be happy to have Menno come back as he normally fed them in the morning, whereas I feed them in the evening.

 

 I should know these two who were also on the bus, but I can't think of their names.

 

 Tonight there was shuffleboard going on at the park, which is the normal for almost every evening. Tim Miller is playing tonight.

Sunday Shots

 This morning I woke up hearing thunder in the distance. With time we had a good shower, brightening up the day. A few hours later I went for a bike ride. Everything looked clean and washed. This house had a beautiful blue look.

 

 At Yoder's Deli parking lot this fan was twirling around with the wind.

 A tiny wild spot close to the foot bridge.

 

 And the culvert on the north side of the foot bridge .

 

 Tonight it was feeding time for the squirrels. A few of them decided to grab two peanuts and run. But there was no way any of them can carry two peanuts in their little mouth. The only option was to take one and leave the other one for the next squirrel.

The Pinecraft Park

 I took a bike ride in the heat of the day to the park. I just wanted a good bike ride and I don't mind doing some sweating. I guess it opens up my pores. So I biked along the Phillippi  Creek.

 

 The north end of the park is more or less left to itself. This part is well kept where the squirrels look at me like I am a foreign object. They don't dare get close, not even when I offer them peanuts.

 

 Some branches are loaded with Spanish Moss.

 



The Pioneer Bus Leaves

 Yesterday the Pioneer bus left with an almost full load. During this summer months most of the passengers are not Amish.

 

 Although yesterday the Amish and Mennonites probably made up half of the passengers.

 

 Sisters, one came to visit the other one a week ago. And now it is time to board the bus for home.

The bus is ready to leave after the drivers wiped off their sweat, for it was a dripping hot 100 degree day.  The temperature just showed the average of 91 but the feel was 100.

Amos Yoder

 In February 2012 Amos Yoder was taking bids at Amos Fisher's consignment sale.

 

 March 3, 2012 Amos Yoder was one of the auctioneers at Ray & Laura Nisley's household sale.

 

 This picture of Marjorie was taken March 2014. Margie's sweetness flows from this photo. After we learned to know each other she always stopped for a few words in conversation.
